INTO THE BLUE is one of my personal favorite songs. It is written from the perspective of a man who learns he is going on a one way trip to Mars. I wanted to aurally set the scene of leaving the atmosphere and soaring through space.
lyrics
Faith. For all.
These four walls.
From the ceiling to the floor.
Her heart bleeds.
Same as me.
But I am the one who must go.
Out of the shadows and into the open…
(Out of the darkness and into the light…)
Up in the air is where I belong now...
(Into tomorrow and out of your mind…)
Out of the sea and onto the mainland.
(Out with the old and in with new.)
Up in the air And over the mountains.
(Out of your sorrow and into the blue...)
Time runs on.
Days feel long.
But this… this I can do.
You're the one.
Who'll keep me young.
For this… this I must do.
And the lonely road.
Is the only road for me.
Call of all bets. Call your mother.
Make it home yet? Love no other.
Hear me singing while I'm flying.
Intermingling, Cosmic Pilot…
Out of the shadows and into the open…
(Out of the darkness and into the light…)
Up in the air, skimming the atmosphere…
(Out of your orbit and into the sky.)
Off of this island
Away from the undertow.
(Not looking back to forget about you.)
Out in the void is where I belong now
(Out of the grey and into the blue...)
